Paddling in Colorado
It depends here you are in Colorado...I went to school at CSU and there was horsetooth. A super long and skinny lake above fort collins. You would just have to get a boat there and you could do some runs there. I think the lake itself was a mile or so long, maybe more.

wish I could help you out there. all I could do to stay in shape up there was lift and do cardio like crazy. I just tried to work all the paddling specific muscles. I don't think there is anyone, individual or club, up there that has a boat. Maybe someone has one of those marathon canoes up there you can use. Not an OC-1, but it would be similar. Check out Zre paddles or any other paddle website for links.

What's up? Here's a link to a guy who came to a marathon race down in Florida earlier this year. He lives near where you guys are talking about in CO. Look towards the bottom of the page.

Here is a nice tip on the paddling scene around Colorado. Actually, this spot is in Nebraska, but not far from the Colorado Border. It is called, Lake McCoughnahey ( sp ? ) , and is a haven for the Windsurfing and Kitesurfing sailors, due to the open wheat fields and large mass of water. It almost resembles an ocean, due to its vast size.
If your into training for open ocean downwind paddles, or just choppy conditions, the wind chop at this lake can reach the head high level, and there are excellent long runs, with white sandy shorelines. Try it, and you'll want to leave Horsetooth resevoir to the power and inflatable boats.

I almost had to laugh out loud at the picture of an OC-1 on Horsetooth. I think I would have freaked if I saw something like that while I was up there. Guess paddling really is everywhere...

I am currently living in Colorado, and I will be here for another year and am starting to really miss paddling. Does anybody know if there is any paddling in this land-locked state?
