Scott Hawaii Gold Series - What is it?

The SCOTT HAWAII GOLD CHALLENGE is a OC-1 series of 3 races. Kanaka Ikaika Races #5, #7 and the Scott Hawaii State Race - #8. You earn points for each race, but the Scott Hawaii State Race is worth double. Most points wins. So for example, if you win races #1 and 2, and receive max points of say 100 each, you have 200 going into the final race. But whoever wins the State race will get 200 more points!

Scott Hawaii Gold Challenge Series #1
The Scott Hawaii Gold Challenge is a series within the Poai Puni racing series. For OC-1 long course only. It is a 3 race series: Race #5 (Pinky's & Planet Sun), #7 (Oahu Championship) and #8 (Scott Hawaii State Championship). Races #5 and 7 will count for 25% each and race #8 will count double (50%). The prizes for the winners of the entire 3 race series are:
1st overall any gender: $50.00 GOLD American Eagle coin = 1 ounce of gold
2nd overall any gender: $25.00 GOLD American Eagle coin = 1/2 ounce of gold
3rd overall any gender: $10.00 GOLD American Eagle coin = 1/4 ounce of gold

  • Sunday February 23, 2014. 10:00 a.m. start
  • Pre-registration: $28.00 at Foti Paddlesports store in Kapaa Quarry until Fri. Feb. 21, or $30.00 online at www.flpregister.com until midnight Feb. 22.
  • Late registration on race day: $35.00
  • Race day check in at Pinky’s Pupu Bar and Grill: 7:00AM-9:00AM

Divisions: OC-6, OC-3, OC-2, OC-1, Surfski, SUP, Prone paddleboard, V-1
Long Course: 12 Miles. Start at Pinky's, right turn at Mokolea Rock (Bird S. isle), counterclockwise around Mokulua islands and end at Pinky's. Subject to change weather pending
Short course: 6 Miles. Pinky's to Flat Isle., out ¾ mile, turn on a buoy and back to Pinky’s . Subject to change weather pending.
This race is sponsored by Pinky’s Pupu Bar and Grill & Planet Sun Hawaii, and will include prizes from Mac 24/7 Bar and Restaurant, Scott Hawaii slippers, Aloha Gas, Kialoa Paddles and Maui Jim Sunglasses. We are a new club on Hickam AFB looking for used canoe, trailer, and dolly. We have purchased a Bradley Lightening, however we are looking for a race cover, if any one has an extra cover to sell or donate. The club has been set-up for our military members and our wounded warriors. Monies are tight, so looking for inexpensive stuff to start. Mahalo..
