OCEANSWELL WAIPUHI series 2003 Rockhampton

They do everything BIG in Rocky, big race, big BBQ and really big trophies!! Mick and his crew have again excelled themselves and put on a fantastic and very hospitable race for the completion of round 3 of the southern end of the OCEANSWELL waipuhi series. Thanks Rocky and to the Capricorn Coast ladies who drove a fantastic lead boat for us.

Back to the race and Aaron Kirby out paddled Darren Humberstone, Darren Moohin and Darrell Thoroughgood to take line honours. Darren H and Darrell took the gamble and paddled outside Iron Pot while Aaron an Darren M stayed on the inside, tactics played a part in this race against the tide and with the wind. Add Matt Carter and Mick DeRooy to this line up and the final at Mackay on the 22nd of November will be a scorcher you will not want to miss!



Senior master man Chris Grant is having a great first year as a senior master again coming home in front of Grant Olds, Terry Dunnett and HarleyEdwards.



Master men and the quiet improver in the pack is Big Bill Jarvis from Canoe Point, he's getting stronger as the series goes on finishing just behind third place getter Adam Stafford.



Three ladies took to the water, well done to Christine and Kathy. Would love to see more ladies at Malanukas regatta on the 25th of October so come on down and give it a go. Plenty of encouragement offered to all and if we are lucky a piece of Kaths YUMMY chocolate slice when you finish (trust me its worth paddling the race just for the slice !!)
