Us National Championships

With the growth of outrigger racing being what it is on the mainland, I was thinking that maybe its` time to host a National Championships for OC1 and OC2.
As far as I know the only race at present that is promoted as a nationals is the 9 man races to Catalina and back to Dana Point each September.

The racing schedule on the mainland is devoid of a national championship event for OC1 and OC2 competitors.

The USCA for many years has hosted a national championship for marathon racers at a different venue each year . These races are hotly contested events , all the best paddlers show up . These races are very fun and many paddlers plan thier vacation time to be able to attend.

I think there is need for a national championship event on the mainland. Ideally the venue should be different one year to the next to keep things interesting.

This season Eastern Outrigger is hosting the New England Outrigger Championships for OC1 and OC2 competitors up in Maine. This race is ECORA sanctioned this year and should draw most of the New England paddlers and a few from further away.
We would like to see a national competition promoted and would be willing to host it first right here in Maine.

Id like to hear any pros and cons here about promoting a nationals , if feedback is positve, Id be happy to take the next steps to make it a reality.

In the meantime don`t miss this one , destined to become a classic:
