Aloha From Tonga!

Aloha to all my friends and former customers on Kaua'i! Yes, I am still here in Tonga.... I can't believe 6 months have passed since sailing out of Nawiliwili last October. I can't check Keizo's site very often as I only have a satellite connection on Telekivava'u that I use for email. It is too slow and expensive to load websites. However, when I go to one of the larger islands I can use an internet cafe, as I am now.

I really enjoy reading about the Kaua'i races and seeing all of your photos. I miss being on Dexter's boat and taking all the photos myself! And wow, Keizo's site has really grown and matured into a first class international website, and the ultimate resource for the global paddling community. No shame to say how proud I am of Keizo, all while maintaining a full load at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in NY... a real challenge.

For all of you who kept asking me when I was going to design or start making canoes, check out the photo story Keizo will post soon. I am involved with making a canoe! Not exactly the lightest or fastest canoe, nor is it made of the latest high tech materials...... but I have had the incredible oppurtunity to assist a 65 year old Tongan man in making a new dug-out canoe, or popao.

I hope to visit Kaua'i in late summer before Keizo returns to school in NY, so I look forward to seeing all of you. Take care and Aloha.... Steve
