First, a big mahalo to Budlight (Bae, Steven, and James) for their $1500 in cash prizes for the 2 warm up races. Paddlers had a chance to stand out individually before Saturday's relay race. Mahalo to Jimmy Ledward and Sharky Aguilar for escorting and Tom Bartlett's gang for keeping time.
Perfect surfing conditions and spectacular scenery treated early arrivals to a great run in 15-20 knot trade winds. The course was Kalihiwai Bay to Haena along Kauai’s beautiful north shore.

Josh Crayton sent in some articles and results of the USACK Team Trials in San Diego this past weekend. The races featured many names familar to the outriger community racing Olympic regulation sprint canoes and kayaks in 500m and 1000m races.
Mahalo to all the paddlers from near and far who made this race such a large and competitive field. We realize the time and energy, not to mention the funding, it takes to attend a race on another island and so Maui Canoe & Kayak Clubs thanks all of you for making the trek to Maui. A special MAHALO to Randy Botti and Ronona Della Cioppa for organizing the Big Island gang 40+.
