NEW HAVEN, Conn. Nike Free Run Laufschuhe. -- Agnieszka Radwanska expects to play in the U.S. Open. But after retiring from the New Haven Open on Tuesday with nagging shoulder injury, the worlds second-ranked player acknowledged shes not sure how that will affect her play. "I was struggling with the shoulder for a couple of weeks now," she said. "Honestly, its near the end of the season and Ive really played a lot this year." The top seed at New Haven, who received a bye in the first round, dropped the opening set 6-0 and was down 2-1 and a break in the second set when she ended her second-round match with qualifier Olga Govortsova. A trainer had been called between sets to work on Radwanskas right shoulder, which she said has been bothering her since the start of the hard-court season. "Its just inflammation," she said. "I really put on the shoulder a lot of tennis the last couple of weeks and my shoulder is saying no sometimes when I go on the court." Radwanska, who mentioned her shoulder problems last week after a straight-set loss to Li Na in Cincinnati, said she didnt want to risk a more serious injury by finishing out this match. "The Grand Slam is the most important tournament, obviously," she said. "I was just scared to play more." Govortsova, ranked 82nd in the world, had lost in straight sets in her only two previous meetings with the Polish star. She said it was her play, more than her opponents shoulder, which dictated the winner this time. "The key was I started the match really well," she said. Radwanska looked sluggish from the start. Govortsova was able to move her around the court and kept her back by putting some well-placed lobs over her head when she came in. "I think she played all right, but think I didnt do anything there to win more, thats for sure," Radwanska said. Govortsova, who won a three-set match over Russias Vera Dushenvina in the first round Monday, will play seventh-seeded Maria Kirilenko of Russia in the quarterfinals. Kirilenko advanced Tuesday when Germanys Mona Barthel withdrew from their second-round match with a stomach bug. Earlier, Marion Bartoli of France rallied from 3-0 down in the third set to reel off the next six games and beat 19-year-old American Sloan Stephens. The fifth-seeded Bartoli had lost nine straight games before finding her groundstrokes and overpowering the 19-year-old Stephens 6-1, 0-6, 6-3. "I started to hit the ball harder, be mentally very tough," she said. "The crucial game was at 3-2 when I served for 20 minutes or so, and I was able to hold my serve to get back to 3-all. From there, I felt a bit more comfortable." Stephens appeared in control of the match after sweeping through the second set and taking the first three games in the third. But Bartoli found another gear, screaming "come on" after each game-winning shot. "I think she raised her level back to where it was in the first set," Stephens said. "Things went her way, but I think we still played a pretty high level of tennis. It just happened." This is Bartolis ninth trip to New Haven since 2003 and her sixth quarterfinal. She has never advanced further. Bartoli will face fourth-seeded Sara Errani of Italy in the quarters. Errani beat Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 in the second round. "We know each other very well," Errani said. "We play a lot of time in practice and matches, so I was thinking what she was thinking. I think I played a good match." It has been a breakthrough year for Errani, who has already won four tournaments this season and reached the final at the French Open, losing to Maria Sharapova in the title match. "It was an amazing two weeks for me," Errani said. "It changed my mentality a bit because after that, I made the top 10. You have to think a bit different than normal in tournaments. Its very nice for me to be top 10. Its a dream, and I want to continue to be like that." Nike Free Run Damen Weiß. Now the Winnipeg Blue Bombers long snapper/fullback wants to talk about the mental illness in the hopes his story will help others. "The things that happened to me, I did them to myself," Matechuk said after the first day of Winnipegs mini camp. "I live with depression. I suffer from the mental illness depression and I used steroids and marijuana as part of a coping mechanism to make me feel better and Ive learnt. "I went off my medication when I shouldnt have and Im with my doctor now working hard and were on the same page and were all working together here with the Bomber family and theyre making sure that everything is good." Matechuk, 26, was on his way to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats training camp from Alberta on May 31, 2011 when border authorities at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., found he was carrying 543 anabolic steroid pills, 262 millilitres of anabolic steroids in liquid form, 1.25 grams of marijuana, 19 syringes and 51 replacement needles. When the Ticats learned of his arrest about a week later, he was cut. The native of Yorkton, Sask., had been the teams long snapper and played 41 games from 2008-2010. Matechuk pleaded guilty last September and served 60 days in jail of his 90-day sentence. The Bombers gave him a second chance when he was signed in February. He had attended the clubs training camp in 2007 and 08 and once played for the Winnipeg Rifles junior squad. Hes grateful for the opportunity he has on and off the field. "(Depression is) hard to talk about, but I feel if I talk about it I can help others and be a positive influence in the community," he said, adding hes a guest speaker at a Yorkton football banquet next week. Nike Free Run 3.0 V3 He was diagnosed with depression two and a half years ago and admitted he was "fighting for my life in June." "I was fighting the inside demons and I overcame them and Im feeling good and Im ready to go here," Matechuk said. "Its a big issue out there right now and, hopefully, working with the media here and working with the team that I can spread a lot of knowledge about the mental illnesses out there." A number of professional athletes suffering from depression have died during the past few years, including former Winnipeg Jets forward Rick Rypien. Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice said Matechuk told him in an initial meeting that he wanted football to be an avenue to help people and that impressed him. "When I heard that, I said, We should give this kid another chance and sign him. And certainly I expect him to do that," LaPolice said. "Hes a good kid who made a mistake and Im certain hes going to fix that." Veteran Chris Cvetkovic is Winnipegs long snapper so Matechuk will have to earn a spot on the team through a role as a fullback and special-teams player, LaPolice said. Matechuk is willing to do whatever it takes to turn his life around. "Ive made mistakes in my life and, fortunately, I was able to learn from my mistakes that I made," he said. "And Im just here and happy to be here and excited to do what I do. I really love football." ' ' '
