MIAMI -- Plagued by poor run support this season, Anibal Sanchez turned really stingy Tuesday. Nike Free 6.0 Laufschuhe Rosa Blau Weiß. The right-hander allowed only an unearned run in seven innings to remain unbeaten in 19 starts against Washington, and the Miami Marlins beat the Nationals 3-1 to break the franchise record for victories in a month. The Marlins are 20-8 since May 1, best in the majors. "I want 20 wins every month," manager Ozzie Guillen said. The Marlins climbed six games above .500 for the first time since last June 4. Greg Dobbs, pinch-hitting for Sanchez, drove in the run that put Miami ahead to stay with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Hanley Ramirez hit his eighth homer leading off the eighth. The Marlins made the most of seven hits, and Sanchez (3-3) snapped a streak of losses in three consecutive starts. "I felt good today," he said. "I was waiting for the run support." Sanchez allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out five. He improved to 8-0 against Washington with a 1.97 ERA. "I know the records," he said. "I know I throw good against them." This season he has thrown well against nearly everyone. His ERA is 2.56, and he ranks among the NL leaders with 67 strikeouts. "He throws strikes and changes speeds," Guillen said. "Thats all you have to do." Reliever Steve Cishek walked consecutive batters to load the bases in the eighth, then struck out Bryce Harper and retired Ryan Zimmerman on a grounder. "We had them in the spot where we should score a run," Nationals manager Davey Johnson said. "We had the right guys up. It just didnt happen. Its frustrating, but thats baseball." The Nationals went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position and are 1 for 12 in the series. Their only run scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Corey Brown, starting for the first time this season after joining the Nationals from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday. Pinch-hitter Jhonatan Solano, making his major league debut, doubled with two out in the ninth before Heath Bell completed the five-hitter for his ninth save in 13 chances. Edwin Jackson (1-3) allowed only two runs, one earned, in 6 2-3 innings. Hes 0-3 in his past eight starts even though his ERA this season is only 3.17. "You cant do much better than he did," Johnson said. Miami broke a 1-all tie with an unearned run in the seventh. Chris Coghlan singled and went to third when Jackson made a wild pickoff throw, and Dobbs brought the run home. "It was a well-pitched ballgame on both parts," Jackson said. "Its who can make the least amount of mistakes, and they capitalized on that mistake." The Marlins had only one hit until the sixth, when they scored on a double by Omar Infante and a two-out RBI double by Giancarlo Stanton to make it 1-all. Ian Desmond, who grounded out on the 10th pitch he saw in his first at-bat, singled for the Nationals first hit to start the fifth. He stole second and continued to third when the throw was errant. When he broke for home on a 1-1 pitch, Brown laid down a squeeze bunt that left the Marlins without a play at the plate. Harper tripled with two out in the sixth, but Zimmerman grounded out against Sanchez to end the inning. "Anibal has been very consistent," Guillen said. "Finally his teammates contributed to give him a win." NOTES: The Nationals accepted the contract of OF Erik Komatsu, who was assigned to Triple-A Syracuse. ... Budaj played eight games with the Canadiens this season, recording a 6-1-1 record with a 2.(Sports Network) - Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Guy Boucher criticized his teams offensive-first style following a fourth straight loss over the weekend, a habit he would like his team to break. But Monday night may not be the best time for the Lightning to go into a defensive shell as theyll need to keep pace with the high-scoring Pittsburgh Penguins. Watch the game live on TSN2 and TSN Mobile TV at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt. Evgeni Malkin, who has missed four games with a concussion, will return to the lineup. "(We) follow protocol carefully," said Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma on the teams Twitter account. "Taken every precaution possible with Evgeni. Hes felt good for 7 full days now." Tampa Bay leads the NHL with 3.48 goals per game, but has gone just 3-10-1 since winning six of seven to begin the season. Part of the reason is the fact that the Lightning are giving up 3.14 goals per game. Pittsburgh is second to only Tampa in goals per game at 3.46, but has been slightly better on the defensive side of things by yielding just under three goals per outing. That has helped the Pens grab first place in the Atlantic Division by three points over the New Jersey Devils. Boucher was upset with his club following Saturdays 3-2 loss in Boston, where the Lightning scored a pair of first-period goals, but gave up the lead by the end of the second and then saw the Bruins score the go-ahead goal on the power play in the third period. What had Boucher heated was that Boston scored the winner after Steven Stamkos missed the net on a short-handed try to set up the Bruins rush. "Its coming down to the same thing that has been going on here for years. What were trying to break is that offense-first mentality of gamble that we have to get rid of," said Boucher. "Its the same story since the beginning of the year, it was there before and its still there. Weve got to break that." Stamkos confidence may have gotten the best of him after he scored his league-leading 15th goal of the season earlier in the game. He now has eight goals and 15 points over a niine-game point streak, the longest active run in the league. Nike Free 3.0 Amphibious Laufschuhe Lila Alexander Killorn also tallied and Teddy Purcell assisted on both goals, while Mathieu Garon posted 24 saves in Tampas fourth straight loss. That includes defeats in the first two of a four-game swing and the Bolts sit at just 3-7-0 on the road this season. The Penguins return home after salvaging the finale of a three-game swing on Saturday. Following defeats in Florida and Carolina, Pittsburgh survived a high-scoring 7-6 test with the Montreal Canadiens that needed overtime. Brandon Sutters second goal of the game came 52 seconds into the extra frame and both Chris Kunitz and Matt Cooke scored twice. Sidney Crosby added a goal and two assists, Kris Letang assisted on four goals and Tomas Vokoun made 33 saves. "The mistakes we made, we didnt let it pressure us. We just kept coming at them," Crosby said. Crosby recorded his seventh three-point game of the season and has tallied nine points in his last four games. He is tops in the NHL with 24 assists and 34 points, two more points than Stamkos. Kunitz, meanwhile, is riding a career high-tying five-game point streak, having totaled five goals and three assists during the run. Pittsburgh played without defenseman Paul Martin on Saturday due to a lower body injury and is day-to-day but is not expected to play tonight. The Lightning are slated to get defenseman Sami Salo for the first time in three games because of a lower body injury and forward Ryan Malone is getting close to returning from a lower body issue of his own. However, Benoit Pouliot is out with a right shoulder injury and the club recalled winger Ondrej Palat from the AHL on Sunday. The Penguins have won four straight over the Lightning and each of the past five meetings in Pittsburgh. They have outscored Tampa Bay 30-8 in those home outings, including a pair of 8-1 wins. The Pens recorded a 5-3 home win over the Lightning on Feb. 24 as Crosby scored twice and added an assist. Stamkos also scored and had two assists. ' ' '
