Event Description:
Third annual Race Around the Hat at Kualoa Beach Park.
Event to include two races per division with the fastest total time being the winner. There are no heats this year. The race will feature a short prologue for each division (men, women, juniors, etc) and a longer final race for the championship. As always we will try to coordinate loaner canoes for those who do not own a rudderless and the race will somehow go around The Hat.

What about the HVA season? Is that still happening this year?

For a couple of reasons the HVA season leading up to the RATH had to be scrapped. The major one being financial. Unfortunately the costly burden of putting on all the races could no longer be absorbed by our board members. The Race Around the Hat is big enough and has enough sponsors that we are able to continue hosting it. If in the future we can find more financial support then we will add races back onto the calendar. Our main goal for these events has always been to provide a place for 18 year old and younger paddlers to race for free. So we will continue to host races where we are financially still able to do this.
