China OC-1

I was surfing the net and found this site: http://www.dragonboat.cn/newEbiz1/EbizPortalFG/portal/html/CategoryList....

(if the link doesn't work, go to: www.dragonboat.cn)

They are manufacturing a OC-1, and the ama sure looks familiar????

Looks like the older style ama for the Pegasus (Arcturus, Spica, Polaris) before Kai made the "Puffy" looking one he now uses on the newer Pegasus/Scorpius. Maybe he sold them the mold?

We've had one in Long Beach for quite some time.

The one we have is the first generation. To be perfectly frank, it should not be taken out on any water that isn't flat. It's nowhere near as fast as the slowest oc1 out there as the boat is considerably shorter than the "standard" oc1 and the ama plows like crazy. Keep in mind that the one on our beach is the first generation complete with steering cables that are actually the wire you use to hang artwork in your house. This would be a very good oc1 for a ultra-beginner that paddles on lakes and not in the ocean. Or a dragon boater that wants an oc1 for cross-training purposes.

We gave the makers our comments - hopefully, they were taken to hear and the oc1 they are now selling is better.

We didn't have to pay for it as it was a prototype and we were asked to test it.
