10 miles, flat water, decent time to finish?

10 mile loop, flat water in San Diego Harbor. Any ideas on a respectable time to finish? Looking for a bar to set for training..
Thank you

If your just beginning training maybe 6 mph or 10 minute miles. To be real competitive you need to be in the 7.5 mph range . In flat water technique and hull design can make a big difference.

Hard to say without knowing the course ,tydes curents ect. but 1:45 would be good for 10 miles

Thank you for taking the time to answer. This will help.

I launch either from Kellog Beach or behind Liberty Station in the channel.

Hurricane, just training and trying to set some goals to be able to do a race some day.

Just choose a race & enter. Then train for that race. Training is much more effective if you have a goal/purpose to aim at. And remember, racing is the best training of all. Try to paddle with other people & guage your performance off them. Don't be fixated on a specific time over a distance because conditions change (wind, current/tide, injuries, tiredness etc). Use a set course to time trial occasionally but concentrate on becoming a better paddler rather than faster over 10 miles. Hope this helps.
