Anybody knows the specs and builder of livestrong canoe ? Killer look. Cockpit openings look quite smalls... seems it would be really hard to bail water out... or is it so watertight you just don't need to bail ?
that canoe would be way diffrent compared to a maui kanu, quality would be 100times better. i had a xtsea and it was soft & fragile. fell apart on me within a year & i hardly used it, so i got rid of it as fast as i could.
How much faster on flat water and downwind will these unlimited OC-6's be compared to the regular OC-6's? Anyone know? The good regular OC-6's can avg (for 1-2 hrs flatwater race) what? 7.8 mph? 8.0 ?
I've never seen skirts like those on the Livestrong canoe. It appears that they have "suspenders". How difficult is to to get out of those after a huli - especially as far up as a couple them are pulled?
those skirts are made by SEALS; http://www.sealsskirts.com/ they all had a handle on the front so in an emergency you can pull it and release yourself, also standing up would do the same as you would/could in a regular canvas set-up on a 6-man. The suspenders keep the majority of the skirt high enough to keep the majority of water out - very common in whitewater or colder climate paddling.
Your meant to wear them and then place the elastic over a cockpit ring, like a K1, but Livestrong left them on (looks funny if you walk around with your skirt. . . i mean spray skirt on). Working on one for the V1 stay tuned.
