What is the reason for one man canoes not having foot straps like skiis? Now days canoes are designed with the paddler sitting lower than ever. Why not add foot straps and lock the paddler in?

The thing I would like added is a bit more lower back rest like a ski so you become one with the canoe. Being wedged in gives me better control.
