Had a chance to talk story with Manutea who was rumored to be steering Shell this year. Not! Non-committal about where he might be on race day.
Gist of his talk about the race was that as we heard, all the heavyweights will be racing including OPT A & B, Shell, EDT , Paddling Connection and Bora-Bora. Sounded like he favored OPT altho said Shell has a "special" canoe.
All the makings of a great race, and Team Primo definitely has their work cut out.

Manutea wants to win the Moloka'i... It's the race, amongst the ones that count for him, that he hasn't win yet.

Aloha to all,
I've just been informed that Manutea Owen was hired by Shell Va'a and will be sharing the steering with the other legend David Tepava. I don't know why he has not opened to pekelo, but it might be some "art of war" techniques from the new Shell coach - the famous Jimmy Pirato.
This is the BIG opportunity for Manutea to win both the Moloka Hoe & Hawaiki Nui V'a, and for Shell to regain their crown.
It'll be a FANTASTIC race!!!

your right hiro, there is no way manu is paddling with paddling connection. the team left wednsday tahiti time and already got a full crew with 2-3 extras. they also have a good team going into the molokai.
