PAA eono predictions

anybody wanna share?

Less interesting in predictions on finishing order -- more on fastest time. Especially given the non-spec boats.

Since the finishline is Hawaii Kai, I would assume the winning time would be way under four (4) hours? Maybe less than 3.5 hours? Geeve um!!!!!

1: Kapa'a

2 Kawainui

Only because the OCP mafia has influence beyond anything conceivable. Plus with goto on the crew, anything could happen.

Thanks for the vote of confidence poopoopaddler, but coming from someone who knows: goto is probably the junkest paddler in that whole crew.

#4 Fri, 05/21/2010 - 2:50pm

The crew in the lightest canoe is going to win.

#5 Fri, 05/21/2010 - 2:50pm

The crew with the only Aussie in it is going to win ...hehe

Go Trav.. make history

I dunno Tom. According to a knowledgeable spouse, Paula may have put on some weight. Possibly maxing out near 100 lbs. That light canoe business may be out the window. I still will go with whoever Katie Slocumb's with. Smoking hot has its advantages. Unfortunately, at our age, we'll never reap any benefits. Oh well there's always the Internet. See you Wednesday. kgb

Tommy - too late to bail out :) - it may be tough to get this one right if the Kailua masters/50 women
indeed do have the lightest boat.
It would be nice to see you in the list of participants - maybe next year ?

Paul Gay has his open boat almost ready - I forgot who is using it.
He thought that the weight may be ~ 320 lbs, waterline about 44 feet.

Team Lanikai Juice is the novice A team - hopefully the conditions will be right for them.

Kailua masters and senior masters, coached by Kamoa, have two boats in the race.
Especially the senior masters are in great shape and I hope that they will do well.

lets hope the Channel isnt too big and no lightweight boats are broken eh !

#15 Fri, 05/21/2010 - 8:56pm

Correction.
Team Iron Maidens is in the OD 300+ division. The UMI was loaded tonight with the two Kamanu boats on the Navatek 60 foot boat going to Molo!

#16 Fri, 05/21/2010 - 10:07pm

KGB - Katie is in the 'Umi' - Paul Gay's open class canoe, along with some other awesome paddling chicks ~ Jane McKee, Tayte Brock, Sarah Gilman, Nikki Radford and Ana (not sure of her last name). Very curious to see how this all plays out. Umi is around 30 years old. It was originally a three man, then a six man sailing canoe and now a open class canoe. Some of the Lanikai guys raced in it as a sailing canoe back in the early days of the sailing races from Maui to Oahu. Umi is a forever evolving Hawaiian canoe. Go team Umi! Hope all teams have fun and a safe race tomorrow. Thank you Manny for this awesome opportunity!!!!!!

Terry from Ocean paddler said the leaders are about 20 miles from the start about a half hour ago.
