On TV news tonight : Gérard Teiva resigned. He is no longer the coach of Shell Va'a... New coach is Jimmy Pirato.

Just like it happens with the mainstream sports and corporate world: either you make history or you become history…

Gerard won everything with Shell Va’a from 2005 to 2009 (with the exception of the 2009 Hawaiki Nui) so congratulations to him for an impressive record, but assuming that OPT has been really dominant since Rene Avaepi became their coach, maybe it was time for a change.

Hiro, correct me if I’m wrong but from what I understood with my poor French, Jimmy Pirato was Shell Va’a captain for a couple of seasons (2007 & 2008), and he was hugely respected by the other Shell paddlers. I was curious to see that he hasn’t been paddling in the main team since last year’s Molokai Hoe, and sounds like it will be a good new leadership.
