Spray skirt/hoops

Our club is getting a new Mirage, manufactured out of Canada. We're on the east coast, U.S. The price for the canoe is what it is. We have a price for hoops and spray skirt from OC. Is it worth shopping around for these? It seems like anything we get will be coming out of Hawaii. In the past, I've been in touch w/ Stitch this...but have lost the contact info. I seem to remember everyones price being pretty much even. Any recommendations?

Here is a link to a company in Vancouver, British Columbia. Your canoe is probably being built close by in Abbotsford, British Columbia. (Unless there is someone building the Mirage on the east coast?)

They make very nice spray decks for the Mirage.

Drewp,

I'd echo huligan's comments on North Water. My club was responsible for helping them design their first version and later improvements to the Mirage spray decks. the materials and sewing are top notch. While the colours are dictated by the fabric choices, the skirts have paddle holder for 9 man races, neoprene cuffs, integated hoops, double zippers, steersmans pockets, even a mount for a GPS!

North Water also does decks for Hawaiian class racers, Bradley Lightnings and more. you can buy these direct from North Water. call and speak with Morgan Goldie. 604-264-0827

I'm bumping this up because I've recently needed to get some info about it and I have a hard as hell time trying to dig it out of the archives....

I've seen people make their own hoops from those blue plastic 50 gallon drums, they worked really well. The ones we use here in Seattle are probably from one of the manufacturer's, and don't work nearly as well. They don't stretch the cover tight enough and allow more places for water to sit on top of the canvas.
