What will the course be?

#1 Sat, 06/05/2010 - 7:11pm

Sorry about that. As usual the race course will be a loop. This will enable us to loan out canoes for everyone that wants to race but doesn't own a rudderless.

Thanks for asking!

good to see you are running the open, women, novice and jrs as separate races.

#3 Sat, 06/05/2010 - 9:21pm

We always plan to do it that way. But if there aren't enough people to warrant separate divisions then we end up grouping divisions together to make the race day run a bit quicker. Rest assured there are awards provided for every division.

Hey gang... just trying to get a sense of how many people are planning on coming out for the Wild West Race this weekend. As of right now we still plan on putting on the event, but preregistrations for the race are very low. For this reason we are contemplating canceling the race. There is a pretty fine line for the HVA between breaking even so the event costs nothing to put on or it costing the HVA hundreds of dollars. We are happy to keep organizing these races as a service to the paddling community. HVA's goal has always been to provide an athletic outlet and fun experience for young paddlers while bringing a different kind of racing to all parts of O'ahu. Bear in mind that each time the HVA loses money on a race there is less left to send a crew of kids to Tahiti for Hawaiki Nui later this year.

So we'd just like to get an idea of how many people plan on coming out for Saturday's race. If you have already registered thank you for doing so! If you have paid your entry fees already and we end up canceling you will receive a full refund. A final determination will be made by Thursday night. So we'll keep you posted.

Aloha-
Jeremy
