ama bag

Somewhere I saw a square, padded ama bag with a handle that looked a lot like the dakine canoe bag. Anybody know where I could get one of these? Thanks for the help.

yes, http://www.hawaiiancanvas.com.
What kind of boat do you have? We don't usually put handles on the ama sleeve, but can do it for you no problem. The padded ama bag would be about $150-200 depending on the boat. You can contact me through the website or
kiri 808-927-7989 or info@hawaiiancanvas.com

I have one of Kiri's padded canoe bags with the ama bag. I use the ama bag every day, I store the ama in it. It helps to protect it big time, no dings or scratches. Love that thing!

DAKine bags are $75. If you are in New York we can send you one USPS or FEDEX/UPS collect Call (808)6520406 if you want to buy one.

@ Paddlefast do you have any links or pictures of dakine ama bags?

I don't have any images but probably go to the Da Kine website and they may have. I'll ask someone with more technical skills than I(maybe my grandson) to put an image up on OC paddler.

Does anybody know if DaKine still makes ama bags?

I think Dakine still makes the bags. I am hesitant to buy another one.

What i don't like about the dakine bag is that it does not hold up if used in the sun a lot. Its a bag to protect the ama that you have to keep in the shade, doesn't make sense financially or responsibly. Maybe others have had different experiences?

If someone made an ama bag that was the same layout/dimensions but made out of sunbrella and retained the padding, I would buy it. I really liked that the bag can hold many different kinds of ama's (except oc2) and that it was padded and had a shoulder strap. I use the d-rings for the shoulder strap to attach carabiners to it so that it can hang from a rope that extends from the horizontal posts that hold my oc1.

Perhaps its possible to buy a dakine bag and some sunbrella and sew the sunbrella over the dakine bag?

Is there a product out there like this already?

I love my Da Kine Bags. I store my ama in the house and my wa'a outside.
