Anyone paddled SB island to Catalina relay?

I'm intrigued by this open water course and wondering if anyone has any insight.

Can you stay on SB island or do you take your chase boat out there day of? Would it be easier to find willing boat guys from Twin Harbors?

Was this done in 2004 and then scrapped till now?

I am really intrigued by this race! Looks like it could be pretty fun

Not sure about staying on SB Island...camping maybe?? Looks pretty desolate from the google maps image

There's nothing on SB island. Either get up super early and motor to the start from the Isthmus or anchor off SB for the night. Good its a Saturday race, after party should be pretty good.

Salty you need a big ass boat to stay on the night before - not allowed to set foot on the island. Course is awesome, but don't be afraid to put your arms in the water and get on a paddleboard and do it...

Salty Dog...hmmmm I wonder who that could be...DB?

Thanks for the info, LBPaddler. I'll have ask around the harbor this weekend at the Anacapa Classic.

BTW- you may have me confused with someone else, I'm an SDOCC guy
