For now, before tomorrow's decisive 3rd leg, the top 5 is:
1 - SHELL Va'a 5h 10min 55s
2 - EDT Va'a 5h 15min 25s
3 - Paddling Connection 5h 16min 19s
4 - MATAIREA HOE 5h 16min 50s
5 - Team OPT 5h 22min 49s
These are the times from day one and day two added together as the fastest 3 day time wins.

10 Ten for Hawaiki Nui after day three. Shell does it again, defeating two time champion OPT… lots of penalties this year… had EDT not had a 5 MINUTE penalty on day 3 they would have come second place, but instead ended up 4th. And how about both Shell A and B in top 5! Matairea Hoe in second is HUGE taking out Paddling Connection, EDT and OPT!… interesting year this year for sure… will we see some of the crews for Olamau 2012?

If anyone does come for olamau, I wonder what they'll be racing? If they get hooked up with a good unlimited canoe all bets are off. Shell would blow doors. Anyone notice the masters crew that finished 5th or 6th for the Hoe finished 20th or so on the first day of Hawaiki Nui? Brutal!!

The penalties are tougher than the race, apparently one of the E.D.T paddlers wasn't wearing the official race cap when they crossed the line, = 5 minutes added to your time, Brutal.
We must have all been naked when I did the race that would explain our overall position.

Some crews got penalties for cutting buoys short... some for unofficials illegal sponsors stickers. Everyone was warned BEFORE the start.
