Anyone can guess or know what the couse is this weekend for Kanaka Ikaika Race #3 2011. I know it says "Kailua Beach Park - Flat island - Bird - Mokes - Castles - Pinkys - Kailua Beach Park." But that is more then 12 miles. Just want to know. Mahalo.

The course is dependant on the conditions and what the Race Coordinator(s) decide as it changed every year.
Last years course (Feb 6, 2010) was about 11.5 miles. It went from Kailua Beach, left side of Flat, to the back side of Moku Nui around in between to make a left around Moku Iki, then to Bird (Mokolea Rock), into Pinky's Canal, then back to Kailua Beach.
Looking at the Upcoming Events posting that Jim Foti put up, it looks like its going to be the same as last years course approximately 12 miles.

More or less what E7M said. Doesn't look like the wind will cooperate again this year unfortunately, which leaves the course up to discretion. The whole premise for that course is to get a surf run from the Mokes to the canal, but without wind it is a moot point, so we just want to make a challenging but not too boring course. So how's that for a vague answer?

that's the best kind of course! it forces people to show up and race no matter the conditions...

Jus show up and race! Kailua bay is nice to paddle no matter what condition, it could be flat, good trades, or kona winds and you'll always have a good run. Indar jus don't die out there! I'll be watching!
