My kialoa Paddles, Foti & Teva Hoe seem, where carbon blade meets wood shaft is occasionally slicing minor cuts into my hand. OK to remove seem or any other solutions? Havent heard back from Kialoa yet, probally due to vacation season.

Why is your hand going all the way down to the seam between the blade and the shaft?
Sounds like the paddle shaft is too short for you.

If I'm not mistaken, because of the length of the blade (21.25"), you're supposed to order the teva hoe 1-2 inches longer than your usual paddle. This way the the width between your hands will feel normal to you, but you'll need to account for an overall longer paddle.

Aloha justthetip!
Please feel free to contact me, amy at kialoa dot com. YankeeHookele and 808.2.619 paddler have both brought up good points. I would have asked the same thing. Your hand should be about a fist width up from where the shaft meets the blade and not hitting it.
Also, there should have been a shrink wrap piece of rubber over the part where the shaft and blade meet, it must have fallen off? We have used electrical tape in the past and that has worked well. Please contact me if you have any questons!
