It is hard to tell if they are paddling or pushing the pole against the bottom (punting?). My turn to punt.

it also looks like in one picture the guy is "paddling" and setting or pulling his net, so almost a hands free paddling so he can keep working?

Thought it a position holding technique @ first too.
Everything in those images looks so serene ... Except the faces.

I've heard that the local tribes here in Washington could attain speeds of 10-12 kts w/ using such poles.

long boats filled with leg rowers, racing! Most in the back seem to be cheating - not leg rowing!
