That was a sick race, and Manny and the PA'A crew did a hell of a job putting on a fun event in macking conditions. The run from Bird back to the canal was nuts! I felt like I was going over the falls in a barrel on some of those sets the drops were so long and steep... just when I would start to think I was pretty awesome for pulling off some mean waves, one would jack up and unload a big whitewater right next to me and I would just shit myself. From talking to people afterwards, it seemed like most everyone dodged (or not) at least a couple bullets....I thought for sure someone was going to get crushed on that ledge on the southwest side of Bird but we made it through pretty clean- Windward side delivers!

Props to Manny and crew for running a safe race in victory-at-sea conditions. I saw a few hulis in the whitewater on that ledge inside of Bird and at Castle Point.
