I want to use this forum to give proper credit to those small paddle makers, most of whom make high quality wood and composite paddles, and some of for inovations used by the larger paddle makers.
Maybe you can list names, locations, and highlights, and maybe pictures of their products

is there such a thing as a "big market" paddle builder? most every brand of OC paddle is a small family run operation...

Looks like the Big Island is pumping out some solid products in the way of paddles and OC6 unlimited designs. I think Pure, Broadreach, and Fluid all make some damn nice paddles.

Oh yeah! And if you surf ski (kayak), no forget Pog in Hilo, for he make the besses of the besses lightest and strongest all carbon wings around.

I'd consider Kialoa as the "big market paddle maker". Nothing wrong with their paddles, I use one, but if there was a "big market" it'd be them.
I'm very partial to Malama Custom paddles. Quite a few people in our club have them. They're beautiful and I received my steering blade from them recently. Can't wait to get it in the water to try it out! I'll put up a pic when I get a chance.
