What length do you measure when rigging a canoe?

I think 20 fathoms for wai and 7 fathoms for ama. Fathom is distance between the fingertips of outstretched arms. Been a while since i cut rigging rope, so you should confirm the length.

Depends on what cordage you are using and the configuration of the fastening system. For braided cotton (not hollow), I've found most common:
25 ft for each ama/iako lashing
50 for each wa'a/iako lashing (or two nylon quickstraps)
