San Onofre Sewage Spill

Just a heads up to you north county paddlers/surfers that San Onofre is closed for the next 96 hours due to a sewage spill that happened today (9/22/11).

What is the source....the housing up Mateo Creek ? That whole area should have been a preserve. Hard to believe that steel head used to spawn up that creek....the clams used to be good.

Looks like the source was the Nuclear plant itself.

Don't forget to remind everyone after it rains anywhere up there too ... : )

Remember how the signs were up everywhere and then they no longer were after a heavy rain ?

Surfrider is pretty active down here in San Diego county with numerous clean-up events and media announcements.

As far as reporting goes, the lifeguards and the Department of Environmental Health are pretty accurate with their daily reporting.
