Spooky V3 Demo at Pa`a Halloween Race
#1 Mon, 10/24/2011 - 7:25pm
Bumbs look pretty small, and it looks pretty low to the water. Is it made for open ocean?
#2 Mon, 10/24/2011 - 8:06pm
It was a regular trades day, although it wasn?t "cranking" by any means, there was good fun surf and we werent even that far past flat island. I felt like it could handle way bigger especially if i used a steering blade instead, but remains to be seen if can go on a raging Pailolo or super choppy Moku Manu run.
#3 Mon, 10/24/2011 - 9:21pm
b-rad: It may not have been a "super choppy Moku Manu run," but based on last Saturday's Bay to Bay (Kailua to Kaneohe) race, the V3 handled the "Slot" very well coming in 2nd overall. No problem for the V1 too. Only wish there was video footage showing these canoes coming through the "Slot." And maybe surfing Kekepa (Turtle Back) Island?
#4 Mon, 10/24/2011 - 10:03pm
The cockpits look spray-skirt ready for bigger conditions.
#5 Tue, 10/25/2011 - 9:42am
Aloha,
We do have Spray Skirts being made for the V1's and V3's, don't think they are ready for this weekends race though. It is an open ocean canoe… different than most of the "lagoon" V3's in Tahiti which are very light/thin glass job and very low to the water.
There will be video (might not be edited as nice as Makana's;) of the Hawaii Kai run this weekend… stay tuned :)
#6 Tue, 10/25/2011 - 10:40am
Looks like this boat was 2nd overall in last weekend's Kailua to Kokokahi race.
