Is anyone making ama carriers anymore? My OC-1 normally goes into a Burnham boat sling and I tuck the ama into the car, but that precludes carrying passengers which is probably not optimum.
My other problem is my Xterra has the big stock rack bars.

Hawaiian Canoe Canvas can make a custom cover for anything. not sure what shipping would cost to get to you. but they do good work.
if you're talking about securing to racks i think Yakima makes a cushioned thing with rubber straps that work for an ama. something like this

not sure if he's still making them, but try contacting JD Davies at Waterwalker in Stevenson, WA . JD made some very cool ama cradles outta neoprene, suitable for square Thule or round Yakima bars..
