Tried looking through old forums for information about this but could not find. Does anyone have tips on mounting a go pro on thier boat? Really trying to get an angel from above/behind and not just mounted directly on the iako. Any tips/pics woud be great.. Thanks

Suction cup mount front or back. I've buried the nose to my feet dropping down a face and never popped it off.

If that's not enough, there's nearly 500 mount ideas in my Gopro forum

Rambo, I left a comment on your blog about the waterproof vents that you tried some years back. I'm trying to resolve the fogging problem (hopefully w/o inserts). Re: Mounts, I purchased the GoPro bicycle handlebar mount and I attach it to the iako behind me. I can capture whats in front of me..as well as get a little of myself in the image also (Oops, just looked...u weren't looking for a iako mount suggestion)

My bro got me a Contour ROAM for christmas and while waiting for the bike mounts in the mail I tried using my SLR Gorillapod tripod wrapped on the iako, it couldn't stay upright when slapping over waves tho.

really wish I had the mount ready for the second part when we got barrelled and dragged over the reef

TKWraps, the Roam is not really waterproof in the ocean when under pressure from a Huli. Most people with them in that situation report them dead within a few months, the seals fail around the switches and door, so maybe enclose it in an aftermarket camera bag or make your own. It helps the keep the seals free of sand and grit too.

The dive housing the surf package came with is listed to 100m, watch the second flick to see what it made it through. Was amazed the gorilla pod hung on thru that, fully expected to be out a canoe as well as the camera. Instructions for keeping the housing functioning are lengthy (rinse in fresh water for an hour, operate the switch 10+ times under water, don't rinse the inside, don't keep it stored in the closed position, etc) I like the redundancy of a splash proof cam in a dive housing and the easy on/record switch so you always Actually know its recording and can activate it quickly, saves battery and confidence you're getting the action. The housing has space for a dessicant tab and it also seals against camera lens forming a third seal that keeps the housing from fogging at the lens if there's incidental moisture inside the housing (happened today in the rain while loading it, will see what the footage turns up). My mates goPro has shit the bed from incidental water and another's missed footage of a sweet 4 man session at flat the same weekend because it was taking pictures instead of video :-/ going to try a drogue rig and a pole mount next.
