I know a lot of people are on Twitter and Facebook, but updates here would be appreciated.
Everyone racing today is a winner in my opinion. It talks a lot of commitment, time and sacrifice and guts to get on the line.

Sounds like everyone is still trying to figure out conditions for the channel. Big for sure, but swell direction? Small Craft Advisory.
Today
Northeast winds 20 kt. Wind waves 7 ft. Northwest swell 8 ft and south 3 ft. Isolated showers.
I am thinking smooth surfers will prevail, but you never know.

Shore Break challenges at start- looks like 40 minute delay. Fine for top paddlers, but will be tough for paddlers in back if wind keeps building during the day.

Latest update from 404 on Facebook:
Jr, Jimmy, Pat, Danny.
It sounds like Jr is south. I imagine the others are all pretty close to each other. But just guessing... I'll be at the finish trying to post finish results on here as they happen.

Hey Luke - Dani Gay, do you know who any of the female racers are and what time they started. Guesstimate race time for finishes? Is the record time under 4 hrs for men? I forget. I know they are fast. Thanks, dying for info from the channel.

I heard the start was 9:30 but can't confirm that. If that was the case the first finishers should be in a bit after 1. I imagine the women started with the men. Haven't heard anything about how they're doing.
Last I heard Jr still in the lead on a northerly course (not southerly). Jimmy and Pat battling for 2nd and Danny behind with Manny approaching. Mostly pieced together from Facebook and rumors at the finish.

Jimmy in 1st under the bridge with Jr seconds behind.
#8 Sun, 04/15/2012 - 12:59pm

#18 Sun, 04/15/2012 - 2:52pm
conclusions from today's race.
1-the paddling world still goes through Polynesia
2-paddling a canoe will make you a fast SUP paddler.
3-training on an OC-1 makes you a fast OC-1 paddler
4-jr is super fast without chines
5-Lauren is pretty much unbeatable
6-Kaihe Chong. The new young beast paddles like a dragon. A frikken fire breathing angry dragon with talons and sharp pointy fangs. He can only be stopped by the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.

That was the hardest thing I've ever done. That was the best thing I've ever done. Congrats to Jimmy and all who participated. I'll see you next year for sure.

Kaihe is straight animal.
The last piece from china walls to the finish was epic. Jimmy had a decent lead when Karel catches a good size ground swell past pillars. The two were neck and neck from there, even caught the same bump before the canal. The rest is history. Congrats to everyone, and Pa'a for organizing.

Thank you PA'A Crew.
Mahalo to those who got the canoes to the grass in Kaluakoi, saving me and others the trek from Paniolo Hale, and putting about 4 hours back into Saturday. Huge.
Great discipline in delaying the race start and making sure safety was first.
First class event all the way.
