Buy Molokai for Molokai Hoe

Just a thought I like to bring up er'r yerar.

Don't bring all your food and drinks over and instead buy stuff on the island of Molokai. It's good people on that island and lets support them buy putting some money in their restaurants and shops. It's a little more exp to buy there but there's a lot of value in getting out in the community and meeting the friendly isle people while spending a little Oahu papah. That Mainland paper is really appreciated.

The friendly Isle people have a weird way of showing that appreciation when they come down to Hale O Lono and harass escorts, cut lines, threaten violence, pull guns. You would think they would appreciate all these races do for their economy, awe.

i'd imagine 100 escort boats taking fish out of the local waters isn't so helpful to their economy. respect is a funny thing, gotta give it to get it.

Got to agree with Salty on this one, 1,000 people or so show up to the island makes one big mess. People all over the island not showing respect. People from all over the world, not understanding the culture of the event. I always get a little hot when a bunch of nobody's are in my surf spots, or in the best parking spots on the downwind runs, or leave junk all over our beach. Least we can do is make sure that economically we support the island that allows us to participate in this great event.

"My surf spots"

can one own a surf spot? the earth and a ton of other surfers were probably there before you tried to claim ownership of a break. Good luck with that.

In the mean time people could just try and be as invisible as possible. I think the majority understand how things function. It's up to the dialed in 99% to learn the clueless 1% how. Maybe they just have no idea. Although I'd guess escort drivers don't fit into the clueless category.

Wow, Krause ! U relatively new to paddling but now u think u somebody? Your surf spots? In hawaii da locals on all da islands including Molokai get one three word description for wannabes like u. The first word starts with d, the second starts with an f, and the third starts with an h. Be humble.
