Moloka'i Hoe - A Guide to Success (Parts 1, 2 and 3) Video

At some point in their paddling lives, most outrigger enthusiasts will entertain thoughts of racing across the Ka'iwi Channel, after all, the Moloka'i Hoe and the Na Wahine O Ke Kai ( women's race) are historically the World Championships of Outrigger Canoe Changes Racing. For the crews that travel from another country to do this race, the logistics, preparation and planning for a successful crossing, will be as challenging as the great race itself, so why not learn from the experience of those gone before you.

Over the past 19 years of racing this Event, The Mooloolaba Masters/Sen Masters, have won nine Masters’ and four Senior Masters’ Titles, usually in the top 10 or 20 overall out of 100+ canoes, an unparalleled feat. In this Documentary, we follow the Crew in the 2010 Event as they prepare, race and discuss the formula that made them so successful. I'm sure on viewing, you discover the secrets and follow in their awesome wake.

Thanks, hope ya'll got something from.

My thinking is most people would need to do the race at least once first to fully grasp the info in the video, some of it seems basic and easily overlooked or discounted. How critical is it to have 9 paddlers with the same goal and commitment.
