Aue! With great sadness and grief the tragic news of the passing of coach Rick Nu‘u reached our shores yesterday.
Rick was an inspiration to so many of us in the Hawaiian Canoe Club ‘ohana and the paddling community throughout the world. Having moved to Canada with his wife Zoe and two beautiful daughters, he maintained strong ties to Maui and to the hearts and bodies of his extended ‘ohana i Hawai‘i nei.
Coach, friend, son, husband and father, Rick gave so much to others and was loved by so many. Our hearts and aloha cross the oceans to the Nu‘u – Norcross ‘ohana.
Services for Rick and celebration of his life to be held in Canada, on Maui, and in Aotearoa (NZ).
He hoe nui ‘ohe I ko kakou wa’a… One large paddle missing from our wa’a…
Words fail to express the depth of our grief, aue! Alohe ‘oe, ku’u ho’aloha…
