Abandoned OC1 off Lanikai beach

Any news on the owner of the older Blue and White OC-1 found floating just inside reef off Lanikai beach on Friday March 14? Canoe is damaged at rear iako insert and was left on beach. Ocean rescue was called and search for paddler but we haven't heard any news. Oc-1 is still in the beach.

Does anyone know anything about this boat? it was still on the beach, someone has taken the plugs and the seat. I'm trying to use my limited finances and skills to fix up old boats to get beginner boats for young paddlers. SInce no one has claimed this boat, I picked it up and would like to try to fix it. Since I don't want to steal someone else's boat I'm posting again to see if the owner can be located. If anyone has any information on this boat please PM me. Mahalo

I'm not sure. I'm guessing it is a waveblade. If anyone has any good pictures of a waveblade, I wouldn't mind seeing them. The canoe has had a great deal of home repairs ( glass laid over the deck, not sanded) and looks like it was brush painted with house paint or something. The canoe has A LOT of damage. It must have been thrashed in the waves for days before washing up. I would imagine anyone else looking at this canoe would say it would cost more to repair than it will ever be worth, but my son has always wanted an old canoe to learn fiberglass repair so this is perfect.
it took my son two days to get the sand off it because was so badly stuck to it. We used a drill powered paint stripper just to get the sand off. So far we have the iako mount epoxied and glassed back in. We will be patching the hole it made when it ripped out soon.
There is also impact cracks all over. The tail looks like it was forced up and weakened to the point of almost ripping off. We've got about half of that ground down and the bottom glassed as reinforced. We will work on the top of that and a few other areas in the next few days.

I may be interested. My son has a few friends who are always looking at canoes, but don't know how to fix them. I am by no means a professional, but i'm learning, so i try to fix them, and sell them for what they cost me , or less.

I did just look online and it seems it doesn't look like a waveblade. I think it's a Polaris, I didn't realize the polaris also had the waveblade style ama.

On a sidenote, does anyone know when Kai Wa'a changed the ama on the Polaris?

Several weeks ago I noticed an old blue and white Cuda sitting up on the beach in Lanikai. It stayed there for a few days. Probably the same canoe. Cuda was Karels first OC-1. There is a picture at: http://outriggerconnection.com/hist_images/Cuda%2021%20Lanikai%20Men.jpg
