Wind Guru is red and purple: Extreme wind conditions. Depending on the east swell it produces, this will potentially be a double black diamond course to get to Makapuu, and then around Allen Davis. Once outside Sandy's it is a sleigh ride home. But hold your ass until then. IF we determine that the conditions are extreme, we may create a list of who can and who can't go long course. Be honest with yourself if you have any doubt in your ability to survive a bad situation. We don't want to risk anybody's lives and/or equipment, including our safety team.
Imagine you get smashed by an 8 foot rogue bomb outside of Makapuu or Allen Davis, you break your leash with 30 mph wind taking your boat from you, and nobody sees it happen. Are you capable of swimming to shore to save your life? If you have any doubt, just sign up for the short course please, as it will be an epic Hawaii Kai run. Any questions, please come see me.

Thanks for the safety brief for Sunday's race. Been there and know that it is not a good feeling to be stranded out in the ocean with nothing but a paddle in your hand. I will pass it on. Mahalo

Wind is coming on. Get ready to have fun and hold on to your A! Survive around ADs and the rest will be gravy.
Anyone planning on doing the long course #1 has to be cleared by race director and #2. if you are cleared, prepare for the worst: plan on getting smoked!
