Too Funny! :)

1) Don't forget your leash today!

2) We are trying to leave promptly at 4:15 from Kaimana and start at 5:00 at the Hawaii Kai Blinker Buoy because the sun still sets early and don't want people paddling in the dark.

3) We need at least one other truck to carry passengers for our trailered canoes

4) No miller ultra light or Heineken Light!! We are not trying to rehydrate ourselves....

those were some FUN conditions! my gps said average 7.8mph. too cold for the beer afterwards....

Someone probably broke the 14 mph mark!

Major winds, lost paddles at the debriefing, no light beers, and the heavy hitters were there. Sounds like fun.

I'm not surprised that I got left off the list, at first I too thought I wasn't deserving. But, once I went home and looked at the gopro video I realized I did it in much faster time than I thought. Anyway I did it in 35:52 about 14 mph. For any of you that can't do math that's 15min ahead of first place. I don't have time to do the math to calculate how far I was of Manny.

Best start of any race ever. Except the guy (I won't name the person) who called the start of the race, started about three seconds early (when he said "Ready") then he said "Set", then he said "go". By the time he said "go" he was full speed. This person was wearing an Christmas themed flannel shirt at the end of the race.

Must've caught the same kind of wave that I caught ;)

#9 Thu, 01/30/2014 - 11:54am

I don't think I managed 14 mph in yesterdays race.....felt more like 1.4 mph!

Meanwhile Kileki will be rocking it in the bays and lakes of Washington this week. Looks good on paper, until the reality of mid 30s temps and high winds push the wind chill into the teens and below.
