Benecia

I'm moving up to the bay area and was wondering where the best places for downwind OC1 runs are? Also, is there good places to oc1 in Benecia?

Thanks.

Benicia has great water and nice surfing, especially in the spring. Launch off the 9th St. ramp, for example. The Alameda (Encinal boat ramp) to San Leandro (marina/boat ramp) downwind (shuttled) is always terrific when the wind blows, which is most afternoons in the spring/summer.

Lots of great runs in the summer. These can be ragging with up to 30mph winds. Hook up with the local clubs there are a lot of one maners:

Oyster Point to Redwood City (Bair Island)
Cayote Point to Redwood City (Bair Island)
Fort Baker to Berkeley Pier: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/16661256
Crissy Field to Berkeley Pier: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/16661258

There are some scary (fun) coastal runs too.

Also, check out http://www.wavechaser.com for the local racing org
