After several years of talk, the Gorge Downwind Paddling festival is finally going to happen! Timed to happen the week after the Gorge Outrigger races in the same area, one can conceivably do 4 races in 8 days.
The race is being put on mainly by surfski paddlers, with many of the world's best expected to show up. They'd like to also get the best OC paddlers and make this a truly world class event. Large cash prizes are being offered.
There is a 3 day window for the main downwind race, which will almost guarantee good downwind conditions.

a little perspective, Alipp, I've been training hard for a 40 year old recovering from brain surgery. relative to the average human my training may be somewhat less extreme. i will be there though. regardless of how weak my beer garden abilities are.
