It looks like we will have some good battles from our Hawaii/Usa crews.
Mellow Johnny
Team Hawaii
Team Puakea
any others?
Mellow Johnny Vaa will have a Tahitian Steersman, which gives them their 3 strongest paddlers being able to paddle. Their top 6 will definitely be a power.
Team Hawaii is stacked
Team Johnny Puakea looks super strong aswell. is Danny Ching with them?
They won't be using "some" EDT paddlers. Hawaiki Nui rules state clearly : only one tahitian paddler allowed for non tahitian teams, and he can only paddle as a steerer.
I know it's still early in the race, but Mellow Johnny's looks to be in 2nd or 3rd place. I wish Molo would do the same with the GPS tracking. So much more exciting to see the lines the different crews are taking as well as their accurate position in the field.
Live stream on the 1ere app is awesome! OPT and EDT in an all out battle for the lead. Awesome racing. Lots of footage of Team Hawai‘i being shown. Super cool stuff.
EDIT:
If you have an iPad or iPhone there's the 1ere app. It streams the live TV broadcast. Just install it, enter Polynesia as the region, click yellow bar on bottom of page. On the home screen of the app there's a yellow box with a play button in the top of screen that says something like "en direct Hawaiki Nui Wa'a". It streams perfectly good sound and picture of the entire race. Broadcast is really good. Good mix between helicopter footage, water footage, and little but of the hosts talking. Really good stuff. Try this link. La 1ère, télé et radio : infos, direct et météo by France Télévisions https://appsto.re/us/PzNX0.i
again EDT treated everyone to an awesome com from behind win in stage 2! OPT got out to an early lead, then EDT reeled them in and the two crews did battle for several minutes. just neck and neck with no one giving an inch. pretty amazing to watch.
Awesome racing! How bout that finish from Paddling Connection.. Pulling in Team OPT and just ran out of room to pass Hinaraurea to finish a close 3rd. Seems like Shell Va'a are in a shambles. Completely different team today from yesterday and only managing 14th. No slouches in that team also with Kevin and Yoann paddling, and Teihotu Dubois. Mellow Johnnys going great guns! Its all on tomorrow for the final day
probably can watch from here

final results show Team Hawai‘i 23rd and Team Puakea 50th. they must have raced all three days to be in final standings?
how about Mellow Johnny's? Pretty amazing. everyone in their crew from one team on one island with one tahitian... 11th overall. that's awesome!
#25 Fri, 11/07/2014 - 3:56pm
Congratulations Mellow Johnny Va'a!
#26 Fri, 11/07/2014 - 5:04pm
In 3rd,Hinaraure'a,is also EDT,it's the Ra'iatea team
#27 Fri, 11/07/2014 - 9:17pm
Awesome M. Johnnys could do so good with only 6 like the rest of the heavy hitters from tahiti (at least i heard they only had 6)
#28 Sat, 11/08/2014 - 2:03pm
Hiro,
On the rule that you posted above regarding the Tahitian steersman; is it mandatory that each non-Tahitian team have a Tahitian steersman?
Or, is that just if a team needs a paddler to fill the crew, the paddler must be a Tahitian steersman.
#29 Sun, 11/09/2014 - 2:21pm
If a team needs a tahitian paddler to fill the crew, the paddler can only be a steersman, he can not be in seat 1-2-3-4-5.
