To cut to the chase: I am seeking a well built OC2 for 2 paddlers each 200 lbs. Solid in the flats but can withstand some ocean use. Not planning to spend much time in big rollers, just Florida East Coast shore pound launches and some nice day small swell (<3 ft).
Suggestions please.

Then contact Jude of Huki Outriggers and see if he could bring his V-2Z out of retirement for you. If you're in Florida, hunt down Ed Joy, who was having great success with his Huki two-man outrigger this pass racing season in Hawaii.

Why not the Huki V2-X?

He said: "solid in the flats," etc. So figured he wanted a narrow fast canoe specifically for the flats, instead of a versatile all water craft. Jude can set him straight.

I have Jude's V2-X. Awesome boat in most conditions. Prefer it to the Z in all conditions. Well made, versatile, able to switch steering (even in the water). Recommend!

An all-around boat would be fine since the Intracoastal is choppy often.
Any thoughts on the Tempest?

The Tempest is a solid OC2. It handles well in the flat, but really shines in the bump.

Also, Tiger's Mahoe would be a great fit if you can find one in your area. Aloha,

BiscayneKite, I am getting a container of Outrigger Zone products in late Sept to early August. We will have Tempests available. Based on the weights of 200 lbs this canoe will do you guys well in all conditions. Contact us through crazy paddlers.net and I will provide you with additional details.
