Shipping OC1 Hawaii > Mainland

Just got off the phone with DHX for a freight quote for an OC1 (Kauai to California). $1200 seems sort of crazy. Is there a better/cheaper way to do this? I don't mind the slow boat (for the freight time, that is).

Akamu, ask HI canoe builders who they use for shipping to mainland. Also check with Sue at P3 on big island for info on shipping options and costs. Good luck. J

Aloha Freight Forwarders. You can bubble wrap and finish off in cardboard with the shrink wrap on the outside so cardboard doesn't get wet.. No need crate . you need a friend in HNL to pick up the canoe at YB and take it to AFF.
