This is a new race designed to help our youth become better paddlers for the future of the sport. Instead of having juniors paddle by themselves; making mistakes and not knowing it, each 9 person crew will have 4 juniors mixed with 5 experienced adults so that we can "Share the knowledge" with the next generation. There is prize money, but this is not for the juniors, so they can still paddle in High School. Instead there are great prizes for the winning juniors like Maui Jim Sunglasses, Kialoa Nehu double bend paddles and other swag. This is not an OHCRA event so crew members can be from different clubs. Help the kids, pass the word and put a crew together. Male, Female and Mixed.
The course is Waimanalo Beach Park to Kualoa Beach Park, which if trade winds prevail, it will be a really good surf run from Moku Manu to Kualoa. Approximately 20 miles. See www.kanakaikaika.com for more information.
