Lots of surfing. The packs have broken apart.
Many paddlers have chosen a northerly line.

The escort boats have been released. Things a pretty spread out, so it's difficult to know where the competitors stand.

Danny is still leading Jimmy ~ 6 boat lengths. Four paddlers trying to hunt him down.
Danny is maintaining a northern line.

Just heard from Bobbi. Will is the farthest north competitor, but near the lead pack.

We are 1 hour 30 mins in. Looks like everyone has gone south. We are on the rum line with Kainoa Tanoai and someone in blue on a blue canoe. This is pops. Looks like Steeve, Danny Daniel, Kua south along with a few more. The top 15 are all within 100 meters but spread wide from north to south. The wind is dropping but still some small surf!

Keoni says it’s a great race.
Danny is 9 miles from the wall. He’s fighting off Steeve, the defending champion from Tahiti, by about a boat length.
Pa’a Hawaii posted that there is a line of four guys fighting for the lead. Manny is furthest south. Then Jimmy, Danny and Steeve (furthest north).

That was a great race. Tough confditions. Stoke to be able to keep up for a little while. Of course Steve killed it and the here is a quick pic of some results.

it's eerily similar to a story line we've heard in the past.

1: the Tahitians will never win the _________ with a rudder/Tahitian steersman.
2: the Tahitians only won because the ________ was flat this year, we surf better than them.
3: a Hawaiian will win the ________ next year when it's really bombing.
4: maybe the they won't show up for the _________ next next year.
5: it's not fair, we can't train that hard for the __________ in Hawaii.
