I saw a couple of these kanus listed (including 1st place) in a recent race.
What, who, anything?

Eclipse is made by Sandwich Island Composites on Maui. I have never paddled one, but I know several people who have them and they are all happy with it. I think Sandwich Island Composites is a dba of Ding King Maui (or Ding King is a dba of Sandwich Island Composites, I'm not sure). Anyway, the guy you need to talk to is Mark Rappahorst. Here's his contact info:

No, I've never paddled it. Sorry. I'm very happy with my current quiver of kanus, so there hasn't really been a need. What I can say is that the lead time to get one is very short relative to other manufacturers' lead times. I have a friend who bought one and picked it up 2 or 3 weeks after placing the initial order. That was a year ago, so I don't know what the current lead time is. She's stoked with her Eclipse, by the way.
