live Molokai Updates...

hey guys, I just got an email today. Sounds like it would be interesting to see results and places during the race...looks like there will be live updates and finishing times up.

http://www.hawaiianh2o.com/molokai.htm see text below

Aloha paddlers,

Results will be posted at the following address for the Molokai Hoe 2005
this coming Sunday. Updates will start about 11:30 with the location of the
top canoes.

Hilton Hawaiian Village is providing connectivity for us at the pier so if
everything goes right we'll be up and running. I don't think I'll get
pictures up because I'll have my hands full with the timing aspect of the
race and getting updates of the race on the web page.

The web page wont look like what you see now once the results start coming
in, it'll look a little different but the address will be the same. You will
have to refresh your browser every time you check the results.

Also, it sounds like they'll be doing the live gps tracking again, hopefully working this time. I'll put a link up when it comes time, also available on the molokaihoe website.

Is there an Oahu radio station covering the race? I know there is a Big Island FM station, KWXX 101.5, with Randy Botti giving reports.

oh, I see a line... something is working, although not very exciting if there's only one. Anyone know what boats got the gps?

hmmm..having trouble getting any type of display on the GPS page. what link am i supposed to click on?? can't get the display to center on hawaii and zoom in.

#8 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 9:03am

Keep working with it.
I have some photos and the line is tracking.
I would love to know who's who.

#9 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 9:08am

had to scroll over from the centre of the globe map.. took a long time.. it appears there is only one canoe being tracked. #50 me thinks.. there's lo res pictures, and it appears the canoe has taken a high line into the channel past Lauau point..

#10 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 9:10am

Yeah, it was centering by itself at first, now it doesn't seem to. Click on Hawaii to center it, zoom in some, click to center it again. etc. There's also some photos on the summary page. cell phone like quality though.

#11 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 9:10am

 Agree that only one canoe is being tracked, what we need is a NASA satellite to track the race. With high res photos, any body know whos in the lead!!!!

#12 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 9:40am

Stay with it.
There is a new update in the middle of the channel.
Still not the most exciting stuff.

#13 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 9:47am

meh...could be alot better if they put a little time into it..maybe showed crews position in relation to diamond head or something. easier way to tell who's in the lead? or enable you to center on one canoe ans track that line...

#14 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 9:53am

Well...
It looks like they quit and went back to Molokai.
Maybe next year huh?

#15 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 12:09pm

#16 Sun, 10/09/2005 - 12:31pm

Yeah even the live updates from the pier did not eventuate ... How disappointing. Promises promises.

It looks like Lanikai were in the lead at
Diamond Head buoy, Outrigger & New Zealand in 2nd and 3rd.

I was looking forward to catching the action live on the net from Japan, but hey you can't win them all.

Anybody know who won it should be over by now ???
