What's the take on the Na Wahine and Moloka'i Hoe tv shows?

I found the coverage of the races this year a little better than it has been in the past couple of years....Still though it seemed a little typical of showing only the top crews in the race. I guess there is no getting around that huh? I'm sure there's no way to get all one hundred crews some tv time, but I wouldn't mind seening some of the other "battles" going on during the race.

Oh yeah, big thanks to Pake and Kala'i on doing a good job of commentating!!!!

yeah-- i thought it was the best i've ever seen. They kinda went off on the underwater shots-- some of them were pretty mean though. The commentary was good too.
But... it is still kind of... bland... not the fault of the guys who made the show at all, cause they did an awesome job-- but if i didn't paddle and i watched that i would think it's a boring sport. Like you watch the tour de france on TV, and even when it's not live it's still awesome to watch. They highlght all the battles and you can really feel the pain those riders are feeling-- they somehow make a 5 hour a day 27 day bike ride really really interesting. Shouldn't it then be possible to make crossing one of the roughest channels in the world in a canoe also interesting? I'm not saying it wasn't interesting.. it just wasn't... riveting. And again.. i'm not blaming anyone, because the show was as good as paddling shows get, but i just wish that there was some way to take it up a level. It would be amazing if there was a way to really impart on the audience the pain that you feel in the race- and all of the strategy that goes into choosing a course....
but again... the show was better than i'd expected, the interviews were great, the shots were really good, the commentary was really good-- it was put together well

i just watched the kauai world challenge video for the first time in awhile--- that video is really good, it's like two minutes and it really is... riveting. If there was a half hour segment on tv like that-----
