Cheryl's Valentine Relay results, Feb 11th
With 144 paddlers on the course, and categories ranging from Couples (married or otherwise), I Couldn't Get a Date (2 men or 2 women), It's All About Me (solo paddlers), and of course the ever popular, First Time Paddle Date, plus 3 separate age group divisions for each category, there were many winners and lots of splits to figure out.
There was a special division for the Juniors, and each team was to have paddled the whole course (8.5 miles, with each leg 4.25 miles). Due some misinformation given the kids by a couple of their coaches, some of them didn't do the complete course - hence the ** and "Unofficial - off course" in their placement. We've shown the times of their individual (sometimes short) legs for their benefit, so they can see how they are progressing - we're so proud of them all!
The Kai Opua Women who are competing in the IVF World Sprints in New Zealand next month, hosted the race, and the extra prizes/door prizes as well as the delicious lunch they served, made for a fun-filled day.
