This is going to be hard to track, because everyone is different and each and every one of us likes a particular canoe. Especially since everyone has laid down 3 grand or so. In my opnion I think whatever you like is what your going to say, if you look at the OC-1 series, it is taken by, Vantage (OLD STYLE), Fusion, Pegsus, Pahoa. So it is a matter of preference. As for me, I am waiting for my Canoe to be delivered (FUZE). But I don't race OC-1 YET!!

Aloha, The BEST canoe is the one best suited for your
paddling style, skill level, water conditions and body type. I know it sounds vague but as in every sport we MATURE as you put more time in thus your needs will change. Its a natural part of your evolution gettting better. Personally, I made it a point to try EVERY single canoe over the last 4 years in practice and during a race. It was fun and sometimes it was the wrong choice for a particular water but that's how you learn.

Just about all our Hawaiian canoes are excellent in design with minor diffrences between them. Best not to listen to chatter and try it out yourself.

You know when you take everything into consideration like workmanship, comfort, durability, speed, and longetivity you have to consider the Nai'a. Through the history of one mans it should be considered one of the best boats.

As was said above,

When considering quality construction, design, versatility in different water conditions and comfort I am extremely happy with my Kaku Kaimana from John P.

Pittbrah, your Kaimana must NOT be one made in California. I agree with all you said about design and versatility. great boat. Sadly, mine is not the only Mainland -built Kaku I know of that suffers badly from quality control that needs immediate improvement. I hear Johnny P has plans to change mainland builders, but just to be sure I will buy my next boat on O`ahu and ship home.

Hi Swami

Actually my boat is a Cali made boat and it has been great. I have not had a single problem with it. I actually bought it in NY after a race last year that Danny and John attended. They brought a few boats with them to demo and sell. I had a chance to paddle the boat and check it out. It's light and solid.

What kind of problems are you having?

John is pretty great at supporting his clients and boats. I did not think John P was changing builders because his Cali builder had a good rep and builds composites for the Aerospace Industry. May have been some early production issues but my new boat turned out great. I hear he is looking for a builder in the North-West so he can build more boats to meet demand.

Mahalo,

Pittbrah

Huki V1X. Made in the USA. Fast delivery. Excellent quality. You can talk to the guy who makes it any time.
Honestly, why do we have this question come up over and over. Everyone is going to say whatever they have is the best.

The new Kailua built Kaimana and Kainalu are pretty much super-awesome. And I don't even have one.

Yet.

What's the worst boat?

My worst experience was with a full fiberglass Nia'iki. Couldn't get that boat to do anything.

(Maybe the lighter carbon ones are more responsive, I know several women who can make those boats fly.)
